A word about this company

Opera Rara’s purpose is to recover, restore, record and perform the forgotten operatic heritage of the 19th century. We undertake two major projects each year consisting of a studio recording followed by a live concert performance in major London venues including the Royal Festival Hall, the Barbican Centre and the Royal Albert Hall. We collaborate with a wide range of orchestras, including the Hallé, the BBC Symphony Orchestra, the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, The Philharmonia, The London Philharmonic Orchestra etc. Opera Rara works with some of the top singers in the world, including Juan Diego Florez, Ermonela Jaho, Javier Camarena, Albina Shagimuratova, etc. Renée Fleming and Bruce Ford both made their first recordings on the Opera Rara label. Since 1970, Opera Rara has made over 100 recordings of rare and neglected masterpieces (including 72 full-length opera studio recordings) and nearly half of those have been brand-new performing editions published by Opera Rara and available through Peters Editions.
